Daddy's 60th Birthday

Did something rather crazy today. Its my dad's 60th birthday and I decided I don't want to miss it. Decision made after lunch, left for the airport from the office, arrive 1.5 hours before the flight, and got the next ticket back. No luggage, just my laptop. Really glad to have made it to dinner. Thank God for angels - Gilbert, Nizam, Edmund, Jessy, Meigu, & a bunch of daddy's buddies for making this day as special as possible. May you guys be blessed as how we have been blessed by you.

Met up with my bloggin' friend Vi for the first time this weekend. ^^. Had an awesome day with great breakfast, strolling down Daiso and Papier Love (as expected for craft lovers like us :p)... and of course with endless chitchat through out the day, getting to know each other better :D It was all good. Awesome day ^^

Meanwhile, let me share this place that we had breakfast. I read about this place, Departure Lounge from some coffee surfin, which I find quite interesting and decided to try. Its a cafe serving espresso drinks & western breakfast, furnished with travel books. Pretty good combination I would say :)

It was only 9.30pm and all I wanted was ice cream. Went around 3 places which were closed already. Can you imagine? 9.30pm only! Anyways, finally got it in KFC (i know, i never eat ice cream there too). I wanted to give up looking initially after the second place, but they are the ones who insisted that we find it. I know I'm loved :)

Found out about this charming little girl who's fighting cancer from one of my devotionals. Her dad is a pastor in Saddleback Church. I'm moved and inspired by her joy, courage and determination to Never Ever Give Up (NEGU) which is her motto which later becomes the name of her foundation. Such positiveNesS! Wow! Anyways, she has a website and also, she is running a Joy Jar project reaching out to kids fighting cancer, read about it here.

I went selling at a Bazaar last week. And it has been the most assuring one I've been to so far, as there were people who REALLY look at my work and buy them. Strangers for crying out loud! ^^

Anyways, this transformed Muji below is one of my productions that I made to sell at the bazaar and a lady bought it! She bought it for her daughter who loves to write and currently studying in another city for the first year. So thoughtful of her to send her something sweet. She requested that I hand stamp some encouraging quotes inside for her. So I took it back, stamped the inside, added her name (to make it special) and sew a packaging bag as well. Hope Hazirah will like it.

I like things dirty on my crafts. Find it hard to keep my productions clean. Made this for my kaki who's into hard rock music. I love rugged stuff and thank God for friends who appreciate some dirty old ruggedness. With that, I have a good reason to really distress and roughen every corner. Really enjoyed myself there. ^^

Father's Day

Celebrated the day by inviting some close friends over for steamboat dinner at home. Just some simple food, a liiiiiiiiiiiiitle beer, and lots of chatter. I'm glad to be around during this day to celebrate for my dad. I think I might just have the greatest dad EVER. Hope you áll had a great and warm celebration too :)

Met up with a new friend 2 days ago ^^ . This is Vivien, one of my mum's partners. And guess what? She's a fellow scrapbooker as well! Been hearing a lot about her from my mum and finally we meet. Hope we can play together soon! :)

Before we meet, I quickly made her this notebook. Was told by my mum she likes things rugged. We have the same taste! How cool is that? ^^

Uncle Bernard's Birthday

It's been a while since I've blogged about anything happening in my life. Just ran through some pictures and realize I've really been missing out a lot on journaling. And hence precious moments lost and forgotten. Ah... not good. Neways, made a decision to journal more (fingers crossed). Let's start with Uncle Bernard's birthday.

We had a family dinner together to celebrate the chinese dumpling festival and as a mini surprise to also celebrate Uncle Bernard's birthday, which falls on the same day on the chinese calendar. It's been a while since he had celebrated his birthdays that he said he forgot how to cut the cake! But all in all, he seemed to enjoyed the mini celebration and so did everybody else. And I'm thinking we should do this kind of stuffs more in the family. ^^

Handmade this notebook from scratch - My first attempt of hand sewn book binding :p I found this really useful tutorial on youtube. Feel free to click on the links below if you're interested. And don't be surprised that its in Italian, and nope I don't understand Italian but the visual steps are really clear where he zooms in into the important details of it. So I found this useful compared to the other english speaking ones.

Being his prayer partner, I made this for Ah Boy as an encouragement for his participation in Evangelism class. Well, since its handmade, the book is not perfect where some pages are not aligned and you might find some gaps in between a little. But I would still say, I'm pretty darn proud out this. ^^ Hope this gives him motivation in his 'mission' :D

Being sick is actually a good way to pin myself down........ giving me a chance to finally organize my card photos..... since September 2010 perhaps? :p Neways, I found these chinese new year cards that I made to give out to my grandma's buddies as a thank you for celebrating her birthday with her. I developed out the photos they took during her birthday and slot them in together with the card.

A Friendship Equation

As I grow older, I figured a little equation about friendship where I realize that the number of friends is inversely proportional to age. Basically meaning as your age increase, the number of friends (well i mean REAL ones) tends to decrease.

Anyways....... I brought my grandma and her buddies for CNY visiting. They are all at their 70's and still able to chat and care for each other. I think that is something rare and precious that should be treasured. Well, at least I know I would.

I’m very honored to be chosen to be the featured artist for Scrap-n-Crop for the month of July and August. In fact, I’m still trying to believe it. Hehe.

I got to know Scrap-n-Crop from some random surfing and was amazed to learn the vast materials and tools they supply. And when I visited their abode, I was blown away by the many ‘toys’ I see – every wall, every corner and every space was filled with them, walking space was minimized to the max where you can find stuff at the sides of the staircase even……oh, I was in Heaven and wished I could stay there forever.. haha :D Since my first visit in 2009, Scrap-n-Crop has been the place I shop most for tools and supplies. Even that now I’m back in Sarawak, their efficient online services make my shopping possible and convenient. I was worried earlier that I couldn’t find supplies when I move back.

A Pleasant Evening with Yiing Babeh

I'm super blessed to have 2 best-EST friends :D And all 3 of us agree that our friendship is a miraculous blessing and gift from God. Why? We barely meet over the years (once in 2 years maybe?) and yet somehow our friendship never fades but only grows stronger. Whenever we meet, we never feel the distance and chat like it was yesterday that we've seen each other. ^^ With them, I could be completely transparent and comfortable even when displaying the worst and darkest parts of my life.

Today (22.06.2010), I got to meet up with Yiing after 2 years. Over a cup of chamomile and chrysanthemum tea, we spent our evening with endless chats - of memories 10 years back, present happenings, future plans, and of course, the all time wonder of "wat-if-we-three-were-in-the-same-city" .......Hahaha... All in all, it was a really pleasant evening and I wished it didn't have to end.

Oh, and Yiing got me a gift!..... or should I say...gift[s].. :D She insisted to wrap the present properly before I take a picture. Actually, I opened the present half way in the car, with everything dark and all. Then I decided to open it properly in the cafe so I can take picture :p

Aaaahhhhh~~~~ Finally rest day again. ^^ However, didn't get much rest today. There's just so much to do, and honestly, I'm not managing myself very well :( .....I tend to miss out things, and neglect certain people because I'm so self involved in my own stuff...... sigh......Sometimes I wonder if only we could upgrade our memory cards (brain) or processors (body/energy) like the computer yea? hehe....

Neways, started my day early at Starbucks again. Planned my week (well, sorta.... :p) and did some reading. My sis got me this beautiful bookmark and I decided to use it on my daily planner :D

Today's read: Examine your spiritual life..... chapter read: about spiritual growth. I love his cartoons... :D

Then da bao chicken rice from 'Old Friends Cafe' and went to grandma's. She got some 'add on's from her neighbour too. It was a really heavy lunch :p

Got Joanna to join us too. She bought some dragon fruit..... really really sweet :D

After lunch, spent some time with grandma watching some old fashioned ghostmovie which I find funny instead of scary. And grandma commented my hair today..... *aiks?* She thinks I need a hair cut ...... hhhmmm....... will consider I guess...? But what kind? She shud know I have NO fashion sense bah... aduh~!

After that, by coincidence, had an early celebration with Ryan for his birthday :D Ryan is my partner in Starbucks Miri, and my first friend there too :)

Since he likes chocolate very much, thought of bringing him to Citrus for the chocolate fondue. This is my first time to try it too. Quite nice..(i'm not much of a sweet tooth)..... but he seems to like it though ^^

My sis has been asking me to go for a movie since I came back and I always seems to have some other stuff to do. And finally today, managed to arranged some time for that. I surprised her by buying the tickets first. This is the first movie I watch in cinema after I move back. We both enjoyed the movie. Funny and yet with valuable lessons behind the story. Worth the watch :) Money and time well spent.

and................ after that, went for McD (how can we miss McD when we're in Parkson? :p), then to the bookstore for a glimpse or two before heading back home to finish up some chores and blog about my day. Geez, scrolling back up, I'm like writing a report. I don't know why it sounds like this. Hahaha.

Oh well, so much for my 'rest' day. Long week ahead. Alertness and some extra strength needed, as well as extra prayer. Neways, I believe HE will provide :) Learning to put down and leave it to HIM too ^^ Now that, I've rested... it's time to run again.... Ready? Let's go~!

Almost forgot to blog about this. Geez, how I can forget something so sweet? My bad :p Anyways, I received new stamps from Marlene!!!! ^^ together with a unique card that has espresso truffles recipe at the back. Hehehe. We are all very busy people, and yet she remembers me when she buy new stamps.... super sweet :D I've always wanted to buy some bible verses stamps.... and God gave me some through an angel ^^ I can't wait to get my hands on them, on cardmaking.... and of course the espresso truffles. Wonder who would wana be my experimental 'white rat'? :p

Started my rest day @ Starbucks today again. Read a book Jason lend me months ago :p Feeling a little 'slumber', I only read one chapter - that's on Martin Tang. I like reading stories behind successful people. I find reads like this inspiring. Martin is a very successful and recognized international producer in the chinese music industry. There were times when he had it all, and then he lose it all. From Martin's story, I realize no matter how deep down we fall, God can turn anyone's life around, as long as we are willing to let Him and never lose trust in Him.

Lord, grant me a humble servant heart.

Didn't do much for the rest of the day. and not quite productive today. A little sick. :( I long to feel energetic again.. There's so much to be done. I need motivation....! and I need....... strength.

Rest Day 07.06.10 (Part 2)

跟妹妹用完午餐后，买了 puzzle 和 big apple donuts 去看阿婆。到了那里，我们一起吃donut,阿婆泡三合一咖啡给我喝。过后一起聊天，听那些听过好多遍‘想当年’的故事。阿婆也分享她经历神的故事说：曾经很生气想送人两巴掌的时候，有声音对他说“你是信耶稣的！” 过后他火气就莫名其妙消失了。这就是所谓经历圣灵感动吧。还有说他是因为在外公病逝之前祷告蒙崔听所以开始了她真正对神的信心。我在阿婆身上看见单纯的信心，和神的信实和存在。

外面下大雨，我们在屋里却很温暖。短短两个小时，却过的得别慢。有时生活繁忙，能够把节奏慢下来，真舒服。

短短的下午，简简单单，平平淡淡，但很充实。

Woke up early to work on some last minute crafts today so I can catch my 'postman' who's flying to KL this morning. Since I'm up early, I decided to spend my morning in Starbucks to get some [quiet but not too quiet, lone but not totally alone] time ^^ And so this was what I did - light breakfast, reading, thinking, refreshing, planning, online-ing, blogging, people watching, window staring, and of course, kepoci-ing with partners. Hehehe.

While working most of the time in Starbucks, I hardly 'enjoy' the cafe myself. This is nice. I should plan this more often.

Blessed to be Sick

Had fever 2 nights ago that I couldn't sleep properly. I'm still wondering how I got it as I haven't had fever in years. However, while I was 'blur blur' turning here and there in my bed, my sis helped to put the 'cool fever' thingy on my head and prepared some panadol soluble for me. It helped. ^^ This morning, she gave vitamin C lagi. Man, I thought I was the elder sister. Ended up she's the one taking care of me much better than I would have taken care of her if she were sick. *blush*

I'm grateful for such a darling sister, and I feel so blessed to be sick.

I chose to put 'no title' as the title for this post as there are no words to describe how I feel. I received the M.U.G award at work today. Very unexpected. Definitely assured and comforted. Award giving ceremony was casual, with only a few partners and our DM. Even then, of all the awards I've received in my life so far (including the vice chancellor's list award which I received twice in front of hundreds of people for achieving top 1% in the whole mechanical engineering course in curtin), never have I ever felt so overwhelmed........ inside.

I truly treasure this award. Thank you Lord.

Last Saturday (22.05.10), I offered to volunteer in a charity event for the special kids @ PDK. When Hui told me about it, I joined without hesitance as the contribution needed was to HAVE FUN!... Basically, I just went and have a great time with the kids. The rain made us change our plans last minute but it sure didn't stop us from having fun, in fact, it made it BETTER. It's been ages since I've played with water. Super awesome day~! My job was actually to take care of the kids and company them to play but I ended up being one of them too that morning. My rest day project - #117 Starbucks Partner CnC Board. Our existing board is kinda worn out and I offered to make one for our store. Bascially I'm using same idea with the one I made for SP2. Coffee pegs and all. Ryan was so sweet and thoughtful to offer to help. He came straight after work to my place to work on our project :)

Seriously down with migraine.... Urgh~! It got pretty bad last night and I had to leave early from work. After 7 months in Sbux, this is my first MC. However, I am thankful for it, as without it, I wouldn't have known how considerate my partners (Joyce, Esther and Jeremy) are, who offered to help me finish my closing tasks. It made me feel so warm.

However, my day got better with Mummy's home made burgers. I don't have much appetite but it still taste pretty damn good :) I only took pictures when most of it is done already, so missed out the meat making process part. :p K nuff said, let the picture do the rest of the talking... :)

Marlene found some Miri-made recycled papers in Jazz Fes and it's so sweet of her to share what she bought with me ^^ and she bought a card for me too! I really have a thing for recycled papers and I've got plenty of ideas for them too. If only I got more rest days to experiment them! haha. Check out the cut out pattern, the texture and the colors..... love every bit of them~!.... but most of all, I love the encouragement and warmth i feel wrapped inside this card. Thank you Marlene, for always being such an angel :D

Random 1 (4th May 2010):

Dad had tea with an ex partner (and friend) and found out this friend of his helps out with the needy in his church. Right after he come back from tea, dad arranged to get a few packs of rice to contribute to his ministry. It's not much but I think its the thought that counts. I thank God for such a generous dad :D

Random 2 (5th May 2010):

Mum prepared breakfast. Being an owl, its rare to see her get up so early to prepare breakfast. She prepared garlic toast with fried egg and mushroom. And of course, a cup of Nescafe to go with that. Perfect to get the morning started! :D

Random 3 (7th May 2010):

Got back home late today after closing to find this on the table. Sweetest thing - the note :) Stuff underneath? White carrot soup...... I loooovvveee soup..... and its still warm. Mum must have warmed it before she went to bed.

And the stuff packed in the plastic? Beef burger~!! And this is no ordinary mamak style burger, its KFCK (kinky fat chef kitchen). I've heard of them for a while now for having some superb homemade burgers, and been wanting to try them out. Thanks to my sweet little sister, I got to taste the best home style burger today. What makes it so awesome is that you can taste that this burger is delicately made, from the meat to the sauce and the perfection of their toast :) No joke guys, my sister waited an hour for her burgers. So, it's recommended to call before you go. :D

Having some other schedules to run to, I couldnt spend much time with grandma today. However, still glad I manage to squeeze out some time for her. Went to her place for lunch and took her out to buy some stuff. I love grandma's home cooked food :)

Got a busy week ahead, mainly because I agreed to help out in a praise worship workshop organized by Luzhou. After moving back to Miri, I've been reluctant to serve. But then, I remembered serving is an opportunity. It's not whether 'I want to' serve or not, it's whether 'God wants to' use me or not. Lord, please forgive me for my selfishness.

So after time with grandma, got home for some last minute preparation on this....... I know I'm nobody and I don't have enough to offer. However, will try my best. Lord, you know I'm willing.

Orait, so much for my quiet lone time today. Time to get into the crowd. Ready? LET'S GO!!

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day - the 3rd celebration after I've moved back to Miri ^^ I cherish spending time with my family a times of celebrations. I thank God over and over again for my family :)

Our simple celebration started with chicken rice lunch @ "老朋友" (behind parkson). Grandma's treat again. Seriously, their chicken rice is AWESOME~! If any of you Mirians has never been there, I highly recommend you to check it out :D

Then grandma treated AGAIN..... Big apple donuts.... YUM YUM YUM....

Back home, Jo started her baking - Pumpkin cake. As usual, all the women in the house, except me (i'm photographer ba :p), got involved.

And the cake..... SUPER YUMMY~!!!! We all loved it ^^

Mother's Day Preparation

Today, on Mother's Day, grandma asked me and my sis what we are getting our mom. My sis said: "I'm baking cake!" and I said: "I'm making cards!" Hehehe. Stayed up late to do this last night.

After many attempts and tissue wastage...... (thank goodness tissues are cheap) ....

Managed to come out with these....... Nice right?.. (if you don't zoom in ^^)

Thought of 2 partners and made some extra for them to give their moms. Not sure if they will use it or not. But nevermind la, just make only. Don't wanna waste my "感动" ("inspiration"? don't know how to call it exactly in english)

And of course, handmade cards. Thanks to Marlene for lending me the stamps on such short notice. This is for grandma. Love this paper from Valerie. ^^

Baked Chicken Tonight~!

I worked opening shift today and got to get home early. And so I took the opportunity to cook dinner. As for dinner, I decided to cook something light and healthy - baked chicken and vegetables. When I told one of my partners at work today, he, being a culinary grad, suggested that I baked it with Mirepoix to give the chicken better texture. He got me really inspired~! ^^

And so I prepared the Mirepoix - 60% onions, 20% carrots and 20% celeries. Chopped and laid a layer on the baking pan.

Chicken marinated with mixed herbs, soya sause, ground black pepper and olive oil. The chicken is added on top of the Mirepoix and set to baked under 220 degC for 15 minutes (turning after 8 minutes)

While waiting for the chicken to bake. I prepared the vegetables. Expecting the corn and potato to take longer time to cook, I boiled them first to get them half cook.

And the chicken almost done.

I added in the vegetables on top of the chicken and bake for another 8-10 minutes.

During the final baking, I prepared this gravy - instant ready mix :p

and *Ting~!*.... Chicken's done. Lay everything on a plate and ....... Dinner is served :)

I'm quite pleased with the outcome and family enjoyed it. To add on, no frying was involved and breast meat was used. Feels healthy. Hehehe. ^^

Rest Day 03.05.10

Rest day started noon again as I was closing the day before :p After brushing up and having 'breakfast', Mum and I accompanied grandma to choose a present for her grand daughter in law to be. It's a tradition in the chinese culture to give some kind of gold accessory during weddings. For the groom side, grandma want to choose a gift to present to her during the tea ceremony as a welcoming gesture. The present chosen is nothing trendy nor stylish but I think its sweet, and I think its thoughtful. Welcome to the family, Chris (in advance). We're looking forward :) And hope you'll like the gift Popo chose personally for you.

Afterwards, we went jalan jalan and grab some snacks. Popo belanja me sweet corn ^^

And for dinner we went to Pete's deli to have some goooooodddd roastin' chicken, perfect mash, and some other wonderful western delicacies. Grandma's treat :)

This picture shows a moment/view that I've been praying for. Teamwork among partners and partners genuinely helping each other out. This was taken during closing shift. Partners who came for yamcha afterwards (those not in uniform) helped out with the closing tasks. With that, we closed twice or even triple as fast :) When I saw this, I couldn't help but smile to myself and took a picture. I find little random things happening in my life that I want to share but not sure what category to put them in and what titles to give them. So, I've just decided to categorize them under randoms. Hehehe.

When I got to work today, my manager handed me this. My unimates dropped by while I was not working and left me this. Find it kinda sweet and kinda cool. And touched by the thought to keep in touch and come to find me in Starbucks.......after all these years. Miss those uni days... one of the best days I've ever had, one of the best.

And today I finally finished my bible reading in Genesis :D This is the first time I survive Genesis and get to enter Exodus. In the past, I just drown together with the rest when God saved Noah during the 40days flood. Haha... With this tiny success, I'm somehow more motivated to go on. Yeah!! Gambateh!! ^^ Moses, I'm looking forward to meet you!

And for purpose driven life today, it talks about God wanting to be my best friend. 'WOW' right? Who am I to deserve such friendship? And ways to develope the friendship? - Constant conversation and constant meditating of God's words. I tend to forget his presence when I get into my everyday life. So to remind myself of that, I wrote these on my hand with a marker.

M.O.G.L.O.M = more of God, less of me. Inspired by Van Ness. ^^ Choose to write it there so I'll always see it. I need to look at my hands a lot when I'm working esp. Been having this for 2 days already during work. Hope won't be 'corrected', as 'tattoo's are not allowed. If so, I would have to think of another way to remind myself.

Latte Art (some sort of)

I've been attempting latte art but always ended up with a big and round shape. Today is the first time I made something where the shape is obvious. Still much room for improvement but I'm SUPER excited! ^^

This is a common meal and drink I have during my working hours - double tall caramel latte and toffee nut muffin. I thank God for employee beverage and employee meals provided in Starbucks. I get to save quite a bit with this :)

Mum's Birthday 2010

It's Mum's 53rd birthday today. We invited her close friends (Ameigu, Olang, Pastor Tiger) and family (Uncle Dan and family) over for dinner to celebrate. And to make things better, my brother Marcus is back in town. I'm sure she's very happy to have him around to celebrate her birthday. Dad's idea, sweet right? Hehehe.

I woke up late, had late brunch, went shopping for dinner stuff and spent the whole afternoon preparing dinner until the guests arrived :)

And so we had dinner, or more of a feast, chit chat, do the birthday thing - sing birthday song, blow candle, cut cake (together with Pastor Tiger whose birthday falls on April as well), and eat some more and chit chat some more. It's like what the songs say - its a good good night....

I'm blessed to have my mum as my mum and grateful for all the things she has done for us. ^^ Praying that she enjoyed her day and that God continue to bless her.

My New Year Resolutions

A little too late for new year resolutions? I don't think so~! ^^ After moving back to Miri, I've been quite lost. And I realized I needed motivation to get myself back on my feet. And to get motivations, I need goals to look forward to. And if I were to set any goal, let it be a spiritual one and I believe the rest will follow :) To be honest, I've never been that hardworking on spiritual sides and I've always been slacking. But with HIS grace, I guess it's not too late to realize its importance and not too late to start. Praying that I will have the perseverance to finish it.

Goal 1: Finish reading the bible in a year. Start: 15th April 2010. ETD: 14th April 2011.

Goal 2: Reread 40 days purpose driven life - seriously. I find many inspiring quotes and verses during my last read but was too lazy to do anything about it and forget them all already. This time, I'm gonna make an effort to remember them and live them out :D Thank God I got my beloved kaki's in christ to company me on my 40 days journey this time. Marlene and Jason - Gambateh~! ^^

Since my brains has limited memory space, I thought of doing something to make myself remember better. I bought a small notebook to jot down the scriptures, quotes and points that I want to remember. I carry this in my handbag. So whenever I'm waiting for someone outside, or walking down the street to work, I could take this out and glance through a short phrase and try to memorize it. As for the mug picture, this shows a tea I usually drink during my devotional time and a mug I always use. ^^

Van Ness Fever

Like many other gals, I get idol fevers every now and then. Well, to name a few - Jay Chou (still his loyal fan now :p), Jam Xiao, Rynn Lin, Vic Chou etc. I'd think about them, admiring their musical talents or got caught up with their charm in their movies/drama series. *blush* But unlike my other fevers where I got carried away with the artists' talent, looks or movie character, this fever is different. For this fever, I was moved by his life ^^

I got to know Van Ness from Meteor Garden. Back then, I find him cool with his ABC styles but never find him attractive. Lately, I watched his drama series called "Autumn Concerto". The movie is nice, touching and his acting skills improved a lot but still I didn't find him very special. Probably most girls would find him sexy with his muscular looks but that has never worked on me. I guess only God knows why I'm attracted to skinny guys. Haha. As for his music, i think it's great that he could produce his own album and stuff but hip hop is just something I'll never understand... like classical music .. Hehe.

However, a reverent's wife in my church told me he's a christian and he's not ashamed to share his faith in public. Now, that got me curious. So I started searching about him on the net and his blog was the first link to come out when I googled his name. And BAM! Reading his blog got me inspired and from then I never look at him the same way again. He shares about his everyday life every now and then. And I found some youtube video about his testimonials. I see his love, his joy, his faith, his energy.... to live to the fullest everyday. I also see his determination to live a life that is pleasing to God. And to know that God is the reason behind his change really inspires me ^^ Seeing his testimonial got me inspired to deepen my r.ship with HIM. From this 'fever', I also realized, when a guy has the love and fear for God, even a normal guy can be oh so charming and attractive ^^

I know he's never gonna read this, but its ok. I still wana thank you, Van Ness, for the inspiration and awareness I received from your testimonial. Praying that God will continue to use you, bless you and may others be blessed through you.

So yep, you can say I got a VanNess fever and I'll be stalking his blog from now on. Hehehe.

Finally, YES FINALLY i got to spend time with my babies again. Woohoo~!! Well, my crafting corner is still a big mess and I can hardly find anything but still, at least I got things started ey? I got some new stuff from Scrap-n-Crop lately and decided to play with it. After some fumbling around, I manage to come out with my first card to be 'born' in miri....(yea, its been 2 1/2 months)... Outcome? So so la....

and also a very questionable bookmark/notecard..... not even sure what I should call it..... haha.. (but i love the stamp and the saying tho :p)

then, thanks to my big butt and limited cramped space, THIS happened~! ..... Not even gonna think how many loose pieces and categories of stuff are there, I just dumped everything back into the box and put it away.. Haha....

Birthday 2010 (Part 5) - MORE Blessings :)

Yep, I got more showers of blessings for my birthday...... so much that I might just drown in it. Haha. I thank God for friends who NEVER fail to remember my birthday and all the love and thoughts showered upon me. ^^

Gin Li babeh, thanks for the super duper cute card. I know you're reading this. Sorry I didnt update my blog for so long. :p Thank you for your friendship - always being there, no matter where on earth you are. Whenever I think of you, I thank God for our friendship. Love you... Muaks~!

Marlene, thank you for the delicate thoughts in preparing my card and gift. I love every bit of it - from the packing to the card and of course, the wonderful notebook. I'm still thinking what to write in it. Kinda 'bu she de' wana write anything in it.. because, you know la, my handwriting so "nice"... and scared write wrongly wana change how?.... haiyo.....sure spoil the nice book. *heartbreaks*

MUST take a close up of the notebook. The cover is fabric leh~... loving the feel of it on my fingertips :D

And finally, got these cute little gifts from Iggy and Yvonne(the puzzle) .... and Ahui (the harmonica). The picture was taken during my birthday last year when they celebrated with me in KL. Time flies. It's been a year already. They might not celebrate with me this year, but they STILL remember. *touched~*.... as always.

It's ALL good and I'm thankful :D Praying that God will continue to guide and that I will see what he wants me to do with my life this year and I will have an obedient heart. Birthday 2010 (Part 4) - Dinner

Ok ok, i know i know. My birthday has passed exactly a month already and i'm still blogging about it? Hahaha... Well, yeah, been kinda busy and lazy lately... The thought of just forgetting bout it did crossed my mind BUT memories like this are too worthy to forget and not to share :) I guess that's the whole purpose of my blogging life - to share stuff that are too important to forget.

Ok, back to the topic. My birthday celebration continued with dinner @ imperial hotel. We decided to go there is because of the live music (they are AWESOME~!) and Joanna wanna try out the beijing duck. It's been years since I've celebrated my birthday with family in Miri and I'm telling you, there's like spending your birthday with the people that matters the most to you :D As usual, some pics to share.

After dinner, Marlene ajak me out for yamcha again..... Adui, really eating NON STOP!! Neways, after quite some time away from Miri, I'm thankful for friends I still have here and some new friends that I've made. God guides. His grace is enough for me.

Birthday 2010 (Part 1) - Eat eat eat!

After 4 years not celebrating my birthday in Miri, this year's celebration turns out to be a tremendous feast, as if to replace the 4 years back's birthday dinners :p

Once I woke up (around 11am :p), Mum had the porridge ready on the table - with yau cha kuai and century egg.. ^^ I'm far from being a porridge fan, but mum's special recipe of marinating the rice with century egg and stewing with pork liver really tasted good :)

Just shortly after breakfast, Uncle Bernard called to ask me out for lunch @ KFC... And so I went, with Ah Po and Jo. It's been ages since I visited this outlet. Its the oldest KFC in Miri :) It's very touching to know my uncle remembers my birthday EVERY year. When we were younger, he used to bring us out for fast foods like Sugarbun, KFC, Hungry Horse and Frosty Boy. Going for this lunch brings back memories of those days :)

It's 2.02am now. And I'm turning 28 today. Actually was quite emo today, not because I'm getting older, mind you, but because of some other reasons. Anyways, I started to receive showers of blessings a day before my birthday that made up for my blues. Hehe...

My sister knows my mouse is super cacat and bought me a new one for my birthday. And she very funny lor.... this was how she gave me just now. Pls pardon me for my straight translation from Mandarin ya.. Haha.

Jo comes back from work. I was in living room surfing net. Jo walks in.

Jo: Ey, u want your birthday present today or tomorrow?

Shera: Up to you when you wana give oh. (Ponders for a while....).... erm... tomorrow la...

Jo: Huh? Then mar have to wrap your present lor? (*Sulks*)

Shera: You lazy mar gimme now lor~

Jo: (Took out my present and hands it to me)....

Shera: (*grins*)..... haha... beh tahan my mouse is it?

Jo: Yalah!!! ... (and takes back present ..... she forgot to tear out the price so she darkens it with a marker and gives back to me >.<) .....

Anyways, I'm happily surfing and working with my new mouse now...... feel so relieved to have a good mouse... haha :p

Then before dinner I showed mum some wooden wall pictures I find EXTREMELY attractive in Precious Moments since we were eating nearby. And guess what? She bot one for me for my birthday!!! Woooohoooo~!!!! ^^ Check it out... Soooooo nice kan kan kan? Gonna start collecting this :D This piece means a lot to me and my dreamsss. This art will be a memorable piece one day :)

Then I played with PAINT.net a little and made this :p

I started to get wishes in MSN and facebook the night before. And once it strikes twelve, more came flooding in.... This is all I've got for now..... And I couldn't have asked for more... :D I feel blessed. No, I "AM" blessed :D

Snail Mail from Pujut 10

I stay in Pujut 5 and she stays in Pujut 10. Driving distance about 5 minutes... walking distance is possible if you have the will.. Haha. However, I got this postcard by post today ^^ ..... So 'ada hati' hor? ^^ I just love snail mails!!! And the postcard, very de cantik leh... See the colors also feel happy :D

Today mum made an awesome meal. ^^ Marlene's dad gave us these soft shell crabs from his pond for testing :D So mum made it with spaghetti fried with olive oil and some other ingredients that I don't know what it is. hehehe. *Slurps*

I enjoy having dinner with family :) Most of the times its not what you eat that matters (sometimes still matters la cuz I'm so greedy :p) .... but who you eat it with :)

Had a really simple rest day today. Just had some casual time with family. One thing to be really grateful today though - it rained cats and dogs in Miri today. Wooohooo....~~~~!!! Finally!!! ^^

Due to the rain, we can't go out. So while waiting for the rain to stop, we did a little recycling activity :D

After the rain stopped, we went out for a while and I bought grandma these puzzles. Something new for her collection since her tv is down :( .... and yeah, my grandma plays puzzles at home when she's bored :)

My Sweet Little Sister

Due to my odd working hours, sometimes the time my sister comes back from work is the time I start working. So even though we stay under the same roof, we don't really see each other everyday. Today is one of those days.

However, when I come back home from work today, I saw this note on my laptop. Underneath it a baking recipe book.

My birthday's coming up. She remembers. She wants to bake my birthday cake. Ain't she just the sweetest? ^^

Been wanting to make this dessert for family since I came back. I learnt it from my house mate when I was studying in New Zealand. Brought the recipe back home and my family has loved it ever since.

The steps are a bit mafan but all simple. Ingredients shown as picture below :)

And grandma came for dinner today. Too bad she's coughing and can't eat though :( But mum made an awesome dinner and grandma loves EVERY dish cooked. ^^

Daddy's Sunday School Class

Today after church service, for some reason, mum suggested grandma joining Daddy's Sunday school class for the elderly. Grandma agreed to join provided we company her. And we did. Daddy seemed happy to see us (grandma, mum and me) in class :D

Daddy taught about Peter's fishing experience when he first met Jesus. And he decided to follow Jesus afterwards. Good reminder for myself :) From the response of the students, mum concluded that Daddy is a good teacher, very suitable to teach this class :) Mum has tonnes of good ideas for daddy's class. I suggested that she become daddy's assistant. Haha. Good idea kan? :p

My sister been bragging about this place since it opened. Been intending to go but due to my short and tight schedules whenever I come back last time, I never went. Today finally got to go. Conclusion - nice place, nice food and price.... quite nice also. Hahaha. We enjoyed the dinner.

Rest day today started with breakfast with Ah Po and Mummy. Had my kuehtiao mee fried with mani vege and ikan bilis. Perfect :)

Then we went to E-mart. WOW... changed a lot....and lotsa stuff to see and buy. We spent half and hour just at the sause section ... Hehehe.... Picture below shows ah Po and mummy investigating all the different type of sauses and their potentials for the variety of food... Hehe.. Too bad Ah Po can't walk too long. I know she feels like exploring.

And then we head back home.. Ah Po reading newspaper. This is the chair where she always sits. And the chair beside (spot where I'm taking this picture) is always where i sit ^^

Adelina introduced me this movie months ago and finally got myself to watch it today. I LOVE IT! It's about going for your passion and ambitions. And I like the idea of having a goal, doing something you like, one thing one day at a time. Most of all, I really admire the relationship they had with their husbands throughout their journey, esp Julia. Things and partners are not always very pretty but its very sweet to go through and withstand those not very sweet times together.

Based on 2 true stories. Worth to watch.

I have morning shift today starting at 7.30am (sooooooooo early...>.<) However, daddy's breakfast waiting on the table turned the morning around. The texture of the egg - just right :D With this, I'm ready for the day ^^

Lui Cha for Lunch

Actually I don't have much to write about this - my lunch today. But purposely post this up to kek my 2 darlings who are sure dying to have this ^^ . This is Lui Cha - a Chinese Hakka dish consists of vegies, mixed with rice, topped with some peanuts and have some greenie-looking soup (made of 7 herbs) poured over it until everything is covered. This is normally taken on the 7th day of Chinese Lunar New Year. The herbs are meant to be very good for health. I'm only 1/8 Hopoh Hakka so I don't really take the complete style with the bitter greenie soup. I take it with normal chicken soup and I've always love it this way. Having always preferring to have things light, this is one of my favourite Chinese food.
