DECK OF CARDS

It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard. The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week. As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.

Just then an army sergeant came in and said ,“Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?” The soldier replied, "I thought I would stay behind and
spend some time with the Lord.”

The sergeant said, “Looks to me like you're going to play cards.” The soldier said, “No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country, I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.”

The sergeant asked in disbelief, “How will you do that?”

"You see the Ace, Sergeant?
It reminds me that there is only one God.

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible,
Old and New Testaments.

The Three represents
the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The Four stands for the Four Gospels:
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The Five is for the five virgins.
There were ten but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God
to create the Heavens and Earth.

The Seven is for the day
God rested after making His Creation.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife,
their three sons and their wives –
the eight people God spared
from the flood that destroyed the Earth.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy.
He cleansed ten,
but nine never thanked Him.

The Ten represents the
Ten Commandments that God
handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of Satan,
one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven
for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus,
for He is the King of all kings.

When I count the dots on all the cards,
I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.

There are a total of 52 cards in a deck;
each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.

The four suits represent the four seasons:
Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Each suit has thirteen cards
there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.
So when I want to talk to God and thank Him,
I just pull out this old deck of cards
and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.

The sergeant just stood there.
After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart,
he said, "Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?"

Scrapbooking Stores in Malaysia

Last updated 14th March 2014 I first did this research back in 2008.  I was very surprised and excited to find scrapbooking and craft shops blooming in Malaysia. I'm still grateful that we Malaysians are able to have have access to buy these supplies today.  I hope we will be able to get more and more brands into Malaysia.  ^^ I don't mind sharing these info as I believe "Sharing is Caring" and I would love to see more Malaysian crafters coming out with lovely production to enhance our local crafting market.  Also, I hope you all would pass on the information to other fellow beginners ^^ Anyways, this is a recent update I did of the shops I know/found.  Don't think its complete though.  Some are shops that I've personally found and visited while others are from research and some are recommended by friends or readers of my blog.  And from my very own personal experience, some of my personal favourite shops (in no particular order) are as belo...

The Power of Positive Thinking

WARNING: This is a Looooooong Post :P I'm reading a book titled "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. Actually this is a book i bought on 20th July, 2002 and didn't finish it for some reasons that I don't remember. Then lately, out of the blue, I took it out to read it all over again, hopefully being able to finish it this time :P Neways, that's the history of the book and me. I'm at chapter 2 now and I came across a very unique practice of a man. It reads: It is possible, even in the midst of your daily work, to drive confident thoughts into consciousness. Let me tell you about one man who did so by the use of a unique method. One icy winter morning he called for me at a hotel in a Midwestern city to take me about thirty-five miles to another town to fill a lecture engagement. We got into his car and started off at a rather high rate of speed on the slippery road. He was going a little faster than I thought reasonable, and I reminded h...

Special Commemorative Cover of President Barack Obama

Got up early today to que for this - Special Commemorative Cover President Barack Obama’s Visit to Malaysia.  President Obama will be the first president of the United States of America to visit Malaysia in nearly half a century (44 years) after President Lyndon Johnson’s visit in 1966.  This edition is only limited to 25000 copies nationwide.  Miri was only given 30 copies.  Dad was the one who told me about this and drove me to buy it.  We went out before 7am, had breakfast and bought some vegies/meat at the market while waiting for the post office to open at 8am.  Enjoyed spending that time with Dad and I'm always touched when he drives me around to run errands.   He helped to que too and in the end we managed to get two copies ^^  I stamped my planner too :p  Isn't it lovely? hehe.
