Happy Mail Day~! ^^ Card #68

I received three cards yesterday and guess what? I got another one today! Such a cute doggie ^^  Neways, I especially love the stamp on the card showing the Stolzenfels Castle with such an interesting history to it. "Finished in 1259, Stolzenfels was used to protect the toll station at the Rhine, where the ships, back then were the main transport for goods, had to stop and pay toll. Over the years it was extended several times, occupied by French and Swedish troops in the Thirty Years' War and finally, in 1689, destroyed by the French during the Nine Years' War. For 150 years the ruins decayed, until in 1815 they were given as a present to Frederick William IV of Prussia by the city of Koblenz. Following the romantic traditions, the prince started to completely rebuild the castle after 1826 as a summer residence. Supported by famous neoclassic architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the castle was completely remodeled in the then fashionable neo-Gothic style, aiming to cre

Happy Mail Day~! ^^ Card #65, 66 and 67

Yay! Coffee Card!!!! ^^ Love the multiple stamps too! ^^  This is my first Turkish card.  The card shows Ayasofya ( Hagia Sophia )  which is a former Greek Orthodoxpatriarchal basilica (church), later an imperial mosque, and now a museum inIstanbul, Turkey. From the date of its construction in 537 until 1453, it served as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral and seat of the Patriarchate of Constantinople,[1] except between 1204 and 1261, when it was converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral under the Latin Empire. The building was a mosque from 29 May 1453 until 1931. It was then secularized and opened as a museum on 1 February 1935.   (p/s: Text in Italics extracted from Wikipedia ) Initially I thought its some kind of palace or something until I googled it.  This is what I love about postcrossing.  So much to learn about things all over the world.  ^^ And check out this handsome horse!!!! Wow...... wish I could stroke his hair.  I kinda just assume is a he huh? hah

Restoring An Old Scrap

Adding texture to an old scrap of a spoilt attempt over three years ago to make a new card.  Well, its not a great card, but feels great to reuse and restore something.  ^^

Resto - Handmade Stuff Blog Shop (Under Construction)

Thinking of resetting up my blogshop soon.  Instead of the previous  Shera's Design , I have decided to change the name to  Resto Paperly Handmades .  Main reason for the change is that I find Shera's Design rather naively arrogant.  I'm no designer and also I'm nobody actually.  So decided to take my own name out.  As for "why Resto?" Well, its actually a self-invented short from the word " Restore "  Hence, Resto  is named with the hope to convey the idea that I'm mainly using recycled stuff in my works, i.e. giving trash a second chance by restoring it into something pretty.  ^^

First Card Order in 2014

It's been a while since I made any for sale, since my 'giving-away' list is always a handsful already.  Anyways, a brother ordered one from me last week! Yay! ^^ And after so long of not selling cards, its comforting to know that my works are not forgotten. I played around with some of my handmade recycle paper and polaroid stamps.  The recycled paper is made of: Toilet roll core (grey) Dutch Lady Milk Carton (yellowish white) Starbucks serviette packaging (brown)

Happy Mail Day ^^ - Card #63 and #64

Happy mails always make my day!  I love looking at the world through postcards, reading stories of people who are on the other side of the earth.  There is always something interesting to find out about.  I feel connected in a distant kind of way and I like that.

Happy Mail Day ^^ - Direct Swap

Yay, another happy mail day! ^^ This is the second direct swap card sent by Bohus from Slovakia. Honestly I never heard of the country until I started swapping postcards with Bohus.  Looks like a beautiful place to grow up in :)  and Bohus has a good sense of humor! Haha. ^^

Hario V60 Drip Coffee - Attempt #1

Since last year, I have been buying equipments here and there for hand drip (with minimal or actually can be considered NO knowledge).  Some stuff I bought are not quite suitable.  Guess I'll just change them gradually on the way.  I used to think hand drip coffee is super simple and easy.  Just pour hot water over cone, what's so hard or complicated about that?  Argh,  I was SOOOOO wrong!   Anyways during my trip to KL last week, I visited Good Friends Cafe for a hand drip coffee brewing lesson.  After coming home, I couldn't wait to try it out on the stuff I have.  Actually its a fail attempt.  But I'm considering blogging about it, so I can look back at my coffee journey next time ^^  If there are any coffee experts, or more experienced coffee lovers reading this, I would really appreciate your comments / advice.   Since I know my equipment is probably not quite right and my skills are barely even up to the acceptable standard, I decided not to bother buying

Handmaking Cards Again

Haven't been crafting much.  2nd attempt this year, using leftover scraps here and there and my own recycled paper (on the purple color card).

Putting Others First

Found myself feeling very guilty for buying KFC home today and tempted my old grandma to eat at her sleeping hour time.  Having KFC while watching comedy used to be my utmost relaxing / enjoying thingy to do at home.  Neways, lesson learnt, no more KFC at home.  For the good of others, I need to cut this enjoyment for myself.  Well, probably its good for myself not to eat junk food at this hour too :p Giving myself away....... not an easy lesson.  Setting aside my likes and interest for the benefit of others will be a life-long challenge for me.  I'm no Mother Teresa and never will be.  But thank you Jesus for such a good example Himself (John 3:16) to encourage me in living a life of sacrifice. Happy Mail Day~! ^^ - Card #62

Snail mails always makes my day.  Such a beautiful white horse.  Wish I could ride a horse by myself someday.  Also wish I could experience snow and a beautiful winter like Leila someday ^^

First Day Cover - Musuems & Artifacts

It was my first time yesterday buying first day cover at the post office on the date of release.  Little did I know that in Miri, we were to stick and handstamp the stamps ourselves in Miri.  Should have separated the rows of stamps so the ink stamp will look nicer.  Should have done my research before going on how to stick it.  Anyways lesson learnt.  Kinda lucky though, that I manage to get the last two (yeah, it was selling fast).  Also glad that I met a new friend because I let her buy one of the sets.  Actually I was buying the last three.  And since I get to handstamp the stamps myself (the word 'stamp' here can be pretty confusing huh?) I tested it on my planner.  So yay! I got a FDC stamp in my planner ^^  Love it!

Happy Mail Day~! ^^ - Card #61

After a long 2 weeks ++ wait, this came in the mail today.  Yay! So thoughtful of Renee to choose something with planes and pikachu on it.  And don't you find her handwriting simply amazing?  So uniquely neat that it can be a font!  Also appreciate the way she printed my address and postcard ID on water proof stickers and even put a note on the ID aquisition date, posting date and even the 228th card sent!! I love details like this, shows the heart of the sender ^^

Craft Room Project - Day 1

I've been thinking of cleaning and reorganizing my craft room since FOREVER and never done.  Well, I did make progress......... but never done.  So I thought of an idea to journal my progress on my blog and maybe I'll be consistent this time? Fingers crossed. So, erm, this is what I did today.  Basic clean up on major parts so things look 'kinda' clean and 'kinda' neat overall.  But if you go in and dig into a shelf or container, yeah, you'll find a mess.  Ok, overall its not that neat after all either.... hahaha.  Will keep it going anyway :)

It's been a while

Yeah, its been a while... since 11.09.2012. Thought of restoring this blog.  Think I have things to share, even though still not quite sure what to start with after so long.   While I figure that out, probably just share a photo from my recent trip to KK, Sabah.  Sunset is breathtakingly awesome.  God is such a great artist.
